Around 70% of businesses started by people aged 50 or older survive for at least five years, compared with only about 50% of businesses started by people under 50. This is based on research from the UK's Office for National Statistics (ONS) and supported by organisations such as the Centre for Ageing Better and The Prince’s Trust.
A major study in the US shows that the likelihood of success as a founder increases with age, peaking around the age of 60. The older you get, the higher your chances of success become, and you don’t necessarily need prior experience as an entrepreneur to succeed.
